INDIGO GIRLS- STARING DOWN THE BRILLIANT DREAM
These two chicks have been getting under my skin since day one. I just don't get it. To me, they are the musical equivalent of Dane Cook. I hear their songs and consistently ask myself, "Did they just say that? Did they think that was clever?" This is another 2 CD live set, coming 15 years after their first 2 CD live set, "1200 Curfews." Have I mentioned how I just don't get it?

I guess there are some people out there who care about this Door. I really don't. Never did. Love the first album. Enjoyed Ray and Robby on "Live From Daryl's House." This? Meh. (I listened just so I could say "Meh.") It's kind of snoozy and all over the place. He wants to be Al DiMeola or Craig Chaquico or something. Bad production, too. I swear I heard hiss.

"I don't get it" is exactly my reaction to the Indigo Girls as well. And it isn't like I think they're flat-out terrible. I think they're just so...so... ordinary. It's a safe bet that every medium-to-large college town has two girls with guitars who write faux-poetic, semi-sensitive stuff and can kinda harmonize their way through a chorus. On a good night, they're the best act at the campus open mic. How the Indigo Girls have turned that act into such a long and successful career is beyond me.
That Wallflowers version of "I'm Looking Thru You" is one of the best Beatles covers ever.
Don't know about the rest of the stuff..
And not only that, they stencil over the Rolling Stones to release the set!
I may be out of line, and certainly not polite, but the whole act of the Indigo Girls, from the visual presentation, the political and emotional content of the lyrics and, finally, the musical talent all screamed "CLICHÈ"
The Animals summed up their entire oeuvre with one song, "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood."
