Solomon Burke, R.I.P.

One of the greatest soul men of all time, the incomparable Solomon Burke, is dead at 70. This is truly a major loss for the music world.

Good job Sal reporting on " The King of Rock & Soul's " death.

It was always a religious & spiritual experience seeing him live on stage...

His great " Nashville " Cd , produced by Buddy Miller will be featured on my stereo today.

Death..... that's how he got to Memphis....

My favorite Solomon Burke moment is in the Lightning in a Bottle concert film. I remember wondering how anybody could be so charismatic just sitting in a chair and singing, and then-- he stood up. I don't think any fireworks or guitar smashing could match the excitement Solomon Burke created by simply rising to his feet.
