Will be very cool to hear Van Morrison do one of my all-time fave songs, St James Infirmary. Thanks!

Another great week from Burning Wood!

I'm still digesting the great bunch of Friday's songs and these songs of the week.

Many thanks!

Now, shifting gears slightly ...

There is a big story in today's New York Times magazine about Gaslight Anthem -- sorta "I have seen the future of New Jersey Rock and Roll and it is Gaslight Anthem."

Sal, I bet you have an opinion.

Guess I should learn to use the search function before I use the comments section!

A great man once said of Gaslight Anthem:

"The Goo Goo Dolls have been doing this for years, and no one's going apeshit over them. This is an average rock and roll record by an average rock and roll band and man, if they don't sound exactly like The Goo Goo Dolls."

Take that New York Times!

Now ... what about the current New Yorker profile of that old Gaslight Anthem (you do know I'm kidding right?) Bruce Springsteen?

I listened, Jayessemm, the first time the Gaslight Anthem was called the greatest thing since the Slinky, and I wasn't impressed then, so I haven't gone back. I'm thinking I should care, but I don't. They're just not very good.

Well, the Slink was a big disappointment too. It never failed to flop over after going down a single step, or at most two.

I think the Todd R album these cuts came from, Liars, is SO underrated. I'm going out on a limb and saying it's one of my top 3 or 4 Todd albums. Seriously!

How do you rate that album overall. Sal?

I feel exactly the same as you do about "Liars." Easily in my Top 5 Rundgren records. I wish more people would discover it.

wait, i thought Sal was a Rory Gallagher agnostic? anyway, Taste's "On the Boards" is a fave, so i'm happy.
