Were you expecting nothing but love songs for today's Weekend Mix? I thought about it, but this was already in the can.
Here's what's up-
First time I heard CCR's "Willy & The Poorboys," I was blown away by the transition from "Poorboy Shuffle" into "Feelin' Blue." It haunted me. It is absolute creepy genius.
In 1981 or 2, my friend Chris had me as a guest DJ on his college radio station, WBAB at Baruch College. I didn't say much, but I did program a bunch of tunes and it was taped for posterity. On playback, the transition from The Beatles' "You Can't Do That" into The Clash's "Train In Vain" knocked me out.
About ten years ago, I experimented with the "crossfade" feature on iTunes and hearing Beth Orton's "She Cries Your Name" fade into "Bobbie Gentry's "Ode To Billie Joe" really made me happy.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to hear the beauty of the fades and transitions of the second and third examples on this mix. I tried, but failed to figure out quickly enough, how to create seemless mixes.
As for the other tunes...
The Keith version of the "Voodoo Lounge" track is far superior than Mick's version.
The Black Crowes covering Joe South was my favorite from the "Warpaint" sessions, and it was a 7" vinyl only release and not on the record proper.
The Big Star is a hoot!!
And the rest....
...well....
"It sounds good all together."

There was a 4 CD bootleg box of "Voodoo Lounge" sessions. I only have one of the discs, which is Keith's vocal takes on most of the songs.
Super stuff: great mix, like the detail in the welcome back story, plus an answer to my oft-thought query of whether to burn with a two second gap or not. Now must try those nifty crossfades & fade-in/fade-outs [don't say yin and yang - ed] which could be the yin and yang [too late!] for the mix. Hope you have a smashing weekend!

While you have cranked out some lists in the past, my friend, this is the best that I can remember, so I'll stretch my neck out and say that this one may be the best ever.
According to my Sal's Loads count, I played this list seven times so far and. it. just. keeps. getting. better!
