I saw the video and was disappointed that Brian never mentioned Carl, who made that song his own. Maybe the automaton couldn't dredge up that 48 year old memory.
Great pick for Song of the Day. I have to put Kid Creole—and his whole concept—near the top of the Most Underrated List. Worth a main post if the spirit moves you.
Incredibly well done. It's been in rotation at our house lately, as my 13 year old, One Direction-obsessed teenage daughter is thrilled to hear her favorite boy band. I'm just happy that she is listening to, and enjoying, one of the greatest songs ever written.
Anyone out there in the video production business want to hazard a guess what the budget was for that? Super job, though. I'll have to check out this "music" stuff they're promoting...

Where's Paul?
Ah, incredible fun, but where's Todd?
Todd is busy working on his techno/comedy album with Tom Smothers and Skrillex.
Sal--you're back? Why did I not get the memo?

Hello all...no, please remain seated,
I'm a total sucker for stuff like that. At least when it's as well executed as that video.

Big fan of Kid Creole, Ken. Went to so many of their $2.00 Ritz shows. $2.00!!
One great big glorious mess...but I liked the video.
I think I like it and not to start a battle but exactly where in the video would you have mentioned carl, in the spoken introduction.
Best nanosecond: Stevie Wonder!
