Weekend Mix/Kelley Stoltz

Ken49 mentioned Kelley Stoltz in a comment and it got me to thinking about a Weekend Mix.

He is a perfect candidate with a long career of making interesting records in undeserved  relative obscurity.

A friend turned me onto "Antique Glow" shortly before his 2006 Sub Pop release, "Below The Branches".
I saw him open for The Dirtbombs at Maxwells.
He was the natural performer his records suggest.
On some of my favorite songs he plays all the instruments.
I'm short on time, so I'll be brief.

Wikipedia:

"Kelley Stoltz (born 1971) is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. He currently resides in San Francisco, CA. His music has been compared to that of Brian Wilson, Velvet Underground, Nick Drake, and Leonard Cohen."

I'd say he's funnier than Nick or Leonard.
I'd add Ray Davies/1971 Kinks
Post Punk '80's, especially Echo & The Bunnymen
Dukes of Stratosphear

This is great. Both of my John Sally Ride band members love Kelley Stoltz, so this will be a great entry for me. Thanks for the up.

Based solely on the video you shared, I'm tucking my napkin into my collar and digging in.

Thanks! I'm unfamiliar with his stuff, but I usually like what you like so I'm giving him a listen! - Stinky

Thanks for this. Know the name but that's about all.
The song on the vid sounds like a lost Beach Boys demo to me. (I mean that as a compliment.)

So. Much. Fun.

Once again the depth of my musical ignorance never ceases to amaze me.

Thanks BBJ
