Beautiful- Jon Auer
This was part of a 4-track E.P. called "Private Sides," where Jon and Ken of The Posies each contributed two solo tracks. Always loved this one and always wished there was a full band rocker of it.

And Through The Wire- Peter Gabriel
A recent interview with Peter Gabriel in Uncut Magazine mentions Paul Weller putting down the guitar parts for this one. I vaguely remembered seeing Weller's name on the album's credits 40 years ago, but didn't recall it being this song. So of course, I had to hear it and the album.

Say Goodbye- Cheap Trick
A great track from many on CT's lost '97 self-titled record.

Unreal World- The Godfathers
The Godfathers achieved some success with "Birth, School, Work, Death" and deservedly so. But "Unreal World" which was two albums later, is pretty damn strong, as well. There is a great Creation cover, too. This is the title track, which I think is super groovy.

Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere- The Who
Watched "The Kids Are Alright" the other night, arguably the greatest rock and roll movie of all time. I never need an excuse to listen to The Who, but that film made it a lot easier.

I'll Remember- The Kinks
Because it's wonderful.

I Understand- The Ink Spots
The first time I, or anyone probably, heard this song was in Steve Buscemi's movie "Trees Lounge" and it has haunted me ever since. It's late period, and most definitely not the original four members. It sounds live but there's no record of a live Ink Spots date. It doesn't appear on any of the hundreds of Ink Spots compilations available, with the exception of one shakey looking 3-LP set from Murray Hill. No single. Just an appearance on the "Trees Lounge" soundtrack. I love this track.

now you're making re-listen to "Unreal World" - wrote it off long ago as the weakest Godfathers album

Loved the Godfathers, loved most everything I ever heard Vic Maile produce ("Ace Of Spades", the Screaming Blue Messiahs, the Count Bishops).

Great call on The Godfathers...fantastic band, many hazy afternoons spent in their company.

Cheap Trick's 1997 self-titled album has some true gems, BABY NO MORE, WRONG ALL ALONG, and the aforementioned SAY GOODBYE. I also love that they recorded the album in Glen Cove, Long Island.
