For years Cedric Burnside sat behind the kit and played drums for his grandfather R.L. Burnside. But he's also a fine country blues guitar player and his new solo release "I Be Trying" is just about perfect. It's simple and understated and rarely goes off the rails. There is nothing showy here. It's all country and blues, right from the heart, like a modern day version of the brilliant Texan Mance Lipscomb or the Reverend Gary Davis Jr.
Check out these tracks and if you dig what you are hearing, you'll most likely love "I Be Trying" as much as I do.

Thank you for the tip, very good listen.
I prefer the raucous grandfather, but great music anyway
Oh that's nice. Has a bit of that particular R.L.groove thing going on there. Thank you Sal for turning us on to this.
That one hit the spot. I'll pick that up at my local record store.
The Burnside family is really talented!
Captain Al
Fantastic music. Have a couple of earlier albums by him, but these selections are way better. Thanks for the heads up, Sal.
That's the shit right there!
