Bad Year For Rock & Roll- Chuck Prophet
I saw Chuck a couple of weeks ago at City Winery and it finally felt like I was at a rock and roll show. You must see him live to appreciate just how good of a guitar player he really is. This was the show opener and this week's SOTW opener.
Crystal Ball- Utopia
Utopia twists The Beatles, or what I like to call The Runtles.
Bus Stop- Tin Machine
I have been an ardent supporter of Tin Machine since I witnessed that first performance at the International Rock Awards in May of 1989. I'd go on to see them a few more times and even sat behind Soupy Sales, who was signing autographs and chatting up everyone around him. Then, immediately dropped his head and fell asleep during the first song. Anyway, this one's short enough to hopefully keep you interested.
Play With Fire- Rickie Lee Jones
RLJ meets Ennio Morricone on this Jagger/Richards classic.
Rose Room- Benny Goodman
A friend and I were discussing the Ken Burns' "Jazz" series and I was reminded of this track, which if memory serves, was the transitional music on the DVD as you went from episode to episode. A beautiful melody and some exquisite playing from Mr. Goodman. This is the hi-fi, small group version from the 50's.
Do I Love You- Floyd Dixon
Talk about a vibe! I believe that is the great Johnny Moore on guitar.
Revelation- Jason Falkner
"And at the end of the day, all I can, is yeah yeah yeah. Oh yeah.

Looks like a good one, thanks for this!
The Runtles!!!! Perfect
The beginning of Bust Stop sounds like the beginning og Why Do You Lie? by PITC.
Chuck Prophet was great in Ann Arbor a couple weekends ago. Catch his tour if you can. It's a great show!
I love Benny Goodman's small group sessions, starting with the original 1935 trio with Teddy Wilson and Gene Krupa. Some of my favorite jazz musicians (Goodman, Lester Young, Johnny Hodges) made their names as leaders or sidemen in big bands, but in every case I prefer their small group records.

I bought Rickie Lee Jones' autobiography yesterday, can't wait to delve in.
Not gonna cast stones at Soupy. I've nodded off at a few of my girls' dance recitals. And he'd probably seen his boys' shows more than once.
Hi, I bought Rickie Lee Jones' autobiography yesterday. I like it very much. Regarding songs of week-2021 113 1119,
