Burning Wood is hitting my sweet spot today: REM to the right, Squeeze to the left, and Nick Lowe in the spotlight. Looks like that new Nick song is a co-write with Los Straightjackets. Good to see the boys are still going to parties.
Randy, Unfortunately it's not really a new album. It's all of those EPs, "Tokyo Bay," "Lay It On Me Baby," compiled with what looks like 3 or 4 new songs. Still happy to have it.
"LSJ backed up Nick Lowe on his new album - Indoor Safari - out September 13th on Yep Roc Records! The record, Nick's first full-length album in eleven years, includes brand new originals, a couple signature deep-cut covers, and refitted versions of previously released singles."
Those Jackets get around! I saw them open with Nicl Lowe for Elvis Costello last year and a few years before that I saw them backing Marshall Crenshaw, and they opened for him as well.
No West Coast dates so far. If he does come, I hope he plays small venues like the Coach House or the Belly Up. Love Los Straitjackets since I first saw them at Spaceland in 1997. They killed opening for Tom Petty a couple of years later. And Psycho Beach Party, c'mon! Hope they make it to the West Coast.
@ C In California, Wow! I knew this was coming this Friday on the Ziggy boxed set, but wasn't aware they released it earlier. Amazed it was the first time hearing it. I think I prefer the slow, slimy version on "Pin Ups," but that was damn good, too! Thanks!

So glad to see Nick looking and sounding so good with the best band since Rockpile.
Fabulous!!
Been a great week so far with Tibbals and now, Nick/Straitjackets.
BTW, the new Nick/Los album, Indoor Safari, due 9/13.

That album sounds promising.😎
I'm guessing refitted doesn't mean rerecorded. Still, semi-new Nick is still new Nick.
Geezus that Lee Moses song cooks! In fact a significant chunk of the 'Time & Place' album cooks!

The Nick/Straightjackets shows are about the most fun you can have with your clothes on. This is great!
I love that on the 2nd guitar solo, the video cuts to the rhythm guitarist for the duration.
