Paintbox- Pink Floyd
Violently Happy- Bjork
Daylight- The Kinks
Bail You Out- Dave Edmunds
I Don't Want To...- Bryan Ferry
Good News- 10cc
There's A Reward- Joe Higgs
Paintbox- Pink Floyd
(A Richard Wright beauty relegated to the b-side of "Apples & Oranges.")
Violently Happy- Bjork
(I absolutely loved this debut when it was released. Played it to death. Not so much the second album. And then she just got stranger and more unlistenable. But, "Debut" sounded better than ever 30 years later.)
Daylight- The Kinks
(Listening to "Preservation Act I" and when "Daylight" came on I immediately heard Nick Lowe's "Crying In My Sleep." I wonder if that was intentional on Nick's part.)
Bail You Out- Dave Edmunds
(This popped up on the iPod recently and prompted me to take out "D.E. 7th," a great D.E. LP.)
I Don't Want To...- Bryan Ferry
(There were recent comments in the wake of Daryl Hall's last solo record regarding producer Dave Stewart and how some of us, myself included was not a fan of his production work. Something made me pull out Bryan Ferry's unreleased "Alphaville," a Stewart production and a record I think I heard once years ago. I loved it. So go figure, a solid Dave Stewart production and it gets shelved.)
Good News- 10cc
(Another lovely b-side, this one found on certain issues of "I'm Not In Love.")
There's A Reward- Joe Higgs
(I first wrote about Joe Higgs and his absolutely perfect record "Life Of Contradiction" album in 2021. The idea being, this album may be the reggae album for you. If you asked me right this second, "What is your favorite reggae album?," I'd answer "Joe Higgs-Life Of Contradiction." It is stunningly beautiful. Give it a spin, especially if you are not a reggae fan.)

Hey, SN. That D.E. LP (D.E. 7th) is up on my TBL pile. -- MG
Sometimes you have to be reminded of some great tunes you haven't heard in a while. Thanks for making me remember how great Daylight, Bail You Out and
Good News are.
I went on a bit of a Dave Edmunds dive recently after getting the Swan Songs comp. Such good stuff!
Joe's Life Of Contradiction has become a fave of mine - many thanks for the heads-up for that!
After reading your post this morning, I realized I've never heard Bjork's debut, so after downloading from YT, I've listened to most of that today, and Ka-Bang! Bullseye!!
Never been much of an early Pink Floyd fan but enjoyed that tune as well.
Thanks for the mix!
Randy
Thank you for your great SOTW mixes as always Sal.
Checked out the Joe Higgs and love it ! I'm a sucker for older reggae and this is great , also got into The Gaylads on your recommendation .. (God Loves You ) Soul Sister is an absolute banger ! More Reggae please !
Joe Higgs is the bomb. A Reggae artist I haven’t heard of. Reminds me a little of Bunny Wailers great Blackheart Man.
