More Sugar From Bob Mould

Bob Mould's new one, "Here We Go Crazy" sounded pretty pretty good on first go and even better the second time around. Clocking in at a little over 30 minutes, there is little fat to trim. Bob sounds incredibly inspired, so much so, that halfway through, I felt like this record could have been made right after the Husker's "Candy Apple Grey" and right before Sugar's "Copper Blue."

Check out "Here We Go Crazy" toot sweet!

I love this record - just ordered it!! Saw him solo last year on his birthday in Amherst, MA. J. Mascis, Lou Barlow and Jason Narducy served him a cake and sang Happy Birthday!

I'm a big fan, seen him live, solo, with band and with Sugar, many times, love most of his solo albums yet after a few listens I'm not feeling this one. The playing is great and committed but for me, so far, the tunes and hooks aren't as good as the run from District Line to Sunshine Rock. I'll try again, though.

This sounds good! Thanks for sharing - I hadn't heard of a new record by him.

I never saw Husker Du back in the day, so I was joyful to finally catch a Bob Mould show a few years ago in Atlanta that was great.

He's a warrior who has lasted and is still doing good stuff. Amazing to me his tolerance for really loud, drone guitar at this point ... I hope/assume he has great earplugs.

[ side note: Now I just wish I'd seen Grant Hart live once ... Marshall Crenshaw long ago covered 2541 and it's one of my favorites, and I wish I could have seen Grant do it too ]

Speaking of Sugar - I live in Atlanta, and find it cool that David Barbe still plays shows AND is a music professor at UGA, my alma mater.

I saw David's band Mercyland a number of times - and the BBQ Killers, who he was also with for a while - and one of those Mercyland shows at a club in Athens in '87 remains the loudest show I've ever seen, other than My Bloody Valentine opening for Dinosaur Jr in early 1992. Whew!
