Scott Walker's music wasn't for everyone. Even the teen idol pop tunes of The Walker Brothers could occasionally push the sonic envelope, or in the case of songs like "The Electrician," leave you stunned by both the sheer beauty and audacity of it all. The bottom line? There was no one like Scott Walker. The news of his passing is a shock to all of his fans. Scott Walker was a truly special artist. I'll quote my friend and band mate, Sal Maida, as he said it best:
"Teen Idol, explorer, enigma, pioneer, golden looks. And what a voice. Scott Walker did what he had to do down here."
Listen to Scott 3 and Scott 4, and of course, The Walker Brothers.
Scott Walker, R.I.P.

I didn't know anything about Walker until "Tilt" appeared in the alternative music bins, and then it was oh here's another avant gardesque. I wish his voice has kept to pop, but what a fascinating life.
You friend is exactly correct, his voice was like not other and could be played by different sides. Make it easy on yourself, the music and the voice. RIP Scott Walker.
Thanks for sharing this. In this big, crazy, blow-by-Trump world, I'd probably have missed his passing altogether if not for your post.
One of THE great voices, ever. Rest in peace, Scott.
