On paper, I should hate this. Ironic and smarmy never sit well with me. A whole album of this would send me flying off a roof. But this one track from The Bird & The Bee's new Van Halen tribute record kills me. Just this track. No more. This one interpretation is enough. I think it cooks, especially the solo.

Wow! You're right, what a solo. One might wonder how you run across some of the things you do.

P.S., thanks again for the Todd in Tokyo - fantastic!!
Yeah, I heard this the other day on our local college radio station and really dug it. Thanks!
Has that Billy Cobham's Quadrant 4 feel.
You know they earlier did a tribute album to Hall & Oates, yeah? This isn't my cuppa, but I will cop to liking this VH cover they recently did on TV with Diamond Dave Grohl.

I can take or leave The Bird and The Bee, including this Van Halen thing. However, I highly recommend Inara's album 'Dearest Everybody.' A delightful, melancholy slice of California chamber pop. Really her best work, IMHO.
