Bruce celebrated his 70th this past week and we lost the great poet Robert Hunter, as well. "Better Days" and "Ship Of Fools" are the songs that came to mind. The latter is a more obvious choice than the former, but I can't help how I think.

That Yellowcard tune has been in my in iPod and iTunes since day one. I have no other Yellowcard tunes in either and I don't think I have ever heard any other Yellowcard tune. But I sure love "Rough Landing, Holly."

The first time I heard Corey Harris was on the "Vu-Du Menz" album he did with New Orleans pianist, Henry Butler in 2000, five years after his debut. The records Harris released between 2001-2007 became some of my faves of the time, and 2005's "Daily Bread" got the heaviest rotation thanks to the title track, which still kills me.

Light In The Attic just released a Marcia Griffiths double LP, "Sweet & Nice," which is a reissue of her 1974 LP with a bonus LP of rare singles. There isn't a bad song in the bunch.

Fess opens things up and Rod closes things out simply because I felt like hearing both songs.

It was Hunter's lyrics on The Dead's "American Beauty" album back in '71 that helped lift my musical tastes away from the heavy metal diet I was on & "Box of Rain" still does the business for me. Not long ago you gave us the Aretha Franklin demo version of "Sweet Bitter Love" so it's a bonus for me to hear the Marcia Griffiths' version. For that & the rest, many thanks. Cheers!
