Imitation Jewellery- The Records
The debut from The Records is considered one of the greatest power pop albums of all time. By album #3, their lineup changed a bit and the bloom was off the rose. But this first single and opening track of "Music On Both Sides" still kills me.

Bedlam- Elvis Costello
Been on an E.C. kick as of late, listened to both "King Of America" and "Blood & Chocolate," and have "The Delivery Man" on deck, with this track being a fave.

Paper Words & Lies- Tommy Keene
Felt like hearing it.

Sitting In My Hotel- The Kinks
A brief volley with Bill over at "Now Playing" about "The Kink Kronikles" had me thinking about some of my favorite deep Kinks Kuts. This track is very high on that list.

That's Enough- The Spiders
Man, I love this record. Dave Bartholomew, The Spiders, New Orleans! It's "Since I Met You Baby" meets "The Stroll."

In The Middle- Marva Whitney
Someone posted a song on Facebook from Marva Whitney's "It's My Thing" album and so I needed to listen to the whole thing. This one stood out.

I Hope You're Happy Now- Elvis Costello
Told you I was on an E.C. kick.

AND NOW...

As a bonus, my buddy JAYESSEMM has shared a "sixpack" via Spotify. Take it away, James.

Years ago Sal shared six song playlists that he called "Six Packs."  I appropriated the idea and each week share a Sixpack with friends and family.  This week I heard a very cool cover of Bowie's Young Americans by Durand Jones & The Indications.  That song reminded me of the Motorhead version of Heroes so I had my "Bookends."  The other four -- new and old, covers and originals -- just sound good together.  Enjoy!

Looking forward to a listen, and think it'll even be today, for a change. Bummer about not having Spotify (and refusing to opt in) so all I get are 30-second snippets of the playlists posted here. Sometimes, tho, that's enough to decide whether to pursue or reject (I'm looking up the Marlena Shaw one when done typing this; I have her Wade In The Water and like what I heard of California Love).

Bedlam is one of my favorite Costello lyrics, and the music isn't too shabby either. A great Imposters record.

Loved that first Records record, so looking forward to the first cut here - to explore a little further.

And thanks for continuing the downloadable version - that's the perfect format for me, so I appreciate it.
