I play drums and sing in The John Sally Ride. Maybe you've heard of us. We were about 1/3 of the way through the recording of our third album when in the blink of an eye at the receiving end of a sneeze, the world stopped, and so did production on the album.
We were all pandemicized!
Our singer and songwriter John Dunbar, on the other well sanitized hand, continued to write and record in the safety of his home studio, sending me demos to consider for album number three, but also putting together something on his own and that new record is out now.
"Oh Wellness" features ten new John Dunbar songs and it is available over at Bandcamp.
As usual, Mr. Dunbar wows me with his turns of phrase and melodic hooks and I think you will feel the same when you check out "Oh Wellness."
I'll get you started with two of my favorite tracks and then, you can head on over to Bandcamp and purchase the rest. I knew I was missing hitting those skins and harmonizing with Mr. D, but hearing these new songs really drove it home.

That he's apparently so prolific, with a knack for melody, and has that voice, I'm reminded of GBV's Robert Pollard.
While “The John Ride” offers those great melodies and lyrics we know and love, I do miss the torque provided by “The Sally’s”. That said, I am assured that it will return when the congestion up ahead is cleared.
