The Upside Of Goodbye- Mike Nesmith
"So the bitterness that usually set in, was effectively undone by the girl's uncommon grace, and the thrust of the experience was the enrichening and lively sense she gave to my life and to its pace." GO MIKE!

The Night I Heard A Scream- 20/20
20/20's debut put them on the power pop map with "Yellow Pills," but I prefer the follow-up, "Look Out," hardly a sophomore slump. This track is from that record and I love it.

Surrender- Terence Trent Darby
In retrospect, TTD might have been just a bit overrated. But I could listen to the opening groove of this song for hours.

Highlife- Southern Culture On The Skids
More people need to love SCOTS! I mean, don't we all deserve to feel as good as this song?

Dorothy Ashby- The High Llamas
Am I wrong, or were The High Llamas once touted as the new Beach Boys? I found this stray track in my iTunes library and gave it a spin. Sounds a bit like the Boys, I think. Maybe a tad too twee.

You Might Show Up- Jules Shear
Jules can sure write a heartbreaker. His new one, "Slower" is due in a few and it's full of heartbreakers. But this track from "More" is one his best and most heartbreakingest.

When You Were Mine- Prince
My first full time original band would often close our set with a cover of this. Then, a few months later, both Mitch Ryder and Cyndi Lauper covered it on their 1983 releases. I am very sure Pep In The Cat did it first.

Re: When You Were Mine.
I think we did because I later heard the Mitch Ryder version and thought people would think we got the idea from him and I was pissed.

@cmealha
That's exactly how I remember it.

I prefer the Mitch Ryder version.

A SCOTS was always a lot fun, I posted a few of their videos on Facebook last week. No response. Oh well.

We did When You Were Mine very good. And I prefer Prince's version.
