After Hours- A Tribe Called Quest
I watched a Showtime documentary on A Tribe Called Quest. Good, not great. But their debut? Great, not good. This is from that.

Lottie Mo '68- Lee Dorsey
I have a mild obsession with this track. I was familiar with the song and was reminded of how great it was when I heard Jon Cleary's cover on his new record. The "'68" in the title would imply a rerecord, but I only see this version as a bonus track on the "Working In A Coal Mine" CD which is an album recorded in '66. I could go on, but I think I lost you at "mild obsession."

Sharleena- Frank Zappa
A terrific example of Frank's doo wop stylings and excellent musicianship.

You're Making Me Cry- Sugarcane Harris
The Zappa track made me think of this beauty from one time Mother, Sugarcane Harris.

Eye Know- De La Soul
I knew this would be a SOTD once I got things rolling with A Tribe Called Quest. "3 FT. High & Rising" is another fave of the genre. I love the Steely Dan sample, the drum groove and the way it feels moving right into Traffic.

Medicated Goo- Traffic
See above.

All The Love That's Wasted- World Party
Speaking of "mild obsessions," I am always digging around for a follow-up to Karl Wallinger's announcement in 2018, that there would be remasters and new vinyl editions of the World Party catalogue. I usually come up empty...but not this time. Amazon has pages built for the first three records coming as newly remasted 180g vinyl editions. There is no info on bonus material, or for the last two records, "Egyptology," which had a brief appearance on UK vinyl or "Dumbing Up," which has never had a vinyl release. But I assume...nay...hope...they are slated, as well. This is from "Dumbing Up." For you vinyl vans, "Private Revolution" is due at the end of February, with "Goodbye Jumbo" and "Bang" due at the end of March.

Love to hear about World Party reissues. Do you have the box set they put out 7-10 or so years ago?

Yes, that Arkaeology boxed set is a killer.

It was even more generous and awesome than most box sets... seemed to just drip with what fans really want out of a set. I never see it anymore, so I'm glad I got it at the time. Also, the notebook it came with was a cool touch.

Sal- are the World Party re-issues just on vinyl? Any word of a CD/Digital release as well?

Kevin,
From what I can see, it's just vinyl.
