Daily Bread- Corey Harris
From 2000-2007, Corey Harris was on a tear. Every release was in my Top 5 for the year. But "Daily Bread" is the one. I think I played the title track every morning at the shop. It was a great way to start the day.

Wrote A Song For Everyone- Mavis Staples w/Jeff Tweedy
This one felt good following Corey Harris.

With A Gun- Steely Dan
I recall a discussion here about Steely Dan and "Pretzel Logic" not being a favorite of too many. I love this album. It's the closest the Dan comes to a pop/rock album...I think.

Love Child- The Supremes
This one's for Mary Wilson. What a production!

Chariot Choogle- T.Rex
This one's from "The Slider," my favorite T. Rex record. Bolan's seemingly random "Yeah! Yeahs!" kill me every time.

Mas Que Nada-Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66
I think Mr. Mendes celebrated his 80th this week. If not, then it's a strange coincidence that this groovy track came to mind.

The "In" Crowd- Ramsey Lewis Trio
Speaking of groovy tracks, this seemed like a natural after "Mas Que Nada." And since 1995, I can never hear this song without thinking of Scorsese's "Casino."

Electric Warrior and Slider were on the turntable constantly in the early 70's. Great song.

Love the Mavis tune!

Also, I really like Pretzel Logic, with the possible exception of With a Gun. Oh well, to each his own! Have a good week ahead.

I played side 2 of Pretzel Logic way more than the first side. I fancied it as a mini-concept album. I love the David Werner blurb, too. His third album is one of my favorites of that era.

Marc Bolan is so incredibly underrated. I'm with you on the "yeah, yeahs" on Chariot.

Nice deep but by Steely Dan. Takes me back to college. (Which was long after this LP came out, but it was still a key one for me - 1987 or so.)
