A few people have suggested the idea, either as a weekly post or a Weekend Mix--
"Different Songs/Same Title."
I like it and it begins today. It will be weekly until I get bored or forget, saving a "Heartbreaker" marathon for last.
Listen to both and weigh in. I will always like both, by the way.
No further instructions.

Both heavily orchestrated, yet for chorus sing along ability (riding in your car singing at the top of your voice) Neil is the one.
then there's Laura Nyro's winsome Desiree on Gonna Take a Miracle.
I did a whole show on this premise a few months ago. Check it out on mix cloud. It's from 2/16/2020

Left Banke, by default. "I became a man at the hands of a girl almost twice my age" has got to be one of the worst lines in the history of recorded music. Not even "not even the chair" comes close.
@Sal Maida,
THAT'S RIGHT! I listened to the show. I couldn't place where I got the idea, otherwise I would have said so.

Hahaa!
I'm a Neil fan, but this is not one of his best. Left Banke for the win here.
just walk away Desiree...
Both are good songs, but I have to go with Neil because it's a great sing-a-long chorus.
Two great songs but I give the edge to The Left Banke
Neil has the greater appeal.
left banke !!!
Left Banke in somewhat of an upset. Expected Neil to beat them, but as most have noticed, the creepy lyrics to Neil's song kind of kills it. You think this song was written for Mrs. Robinson but got tossed?
I hear the roots of a period Spinal Tap song in there.
For my two euros worth I'm going with The Left Banke, probably because I would have been a cooler hipster back then choosing them over Neil. Plus it's fun & larynx-mangling trying to hit those high notes in The Left Banke's Desiree. Cheers!
Great idea for an ongoing series. I think Neil Young had a plan to do an album of songs like this in the 70s. He got as far as Sail Away and maybe a couple of others.
My vote's on Mr Diamond, although I like both versions.
