Three For The Road

Originally credited to publisher Ed Silvers, but actually written by Ashford & Simpson, give a listen to Tina Britt's only hit, "The Real Thing." I can't get enough of it. It has a Vandellas "Heat Wave" vibe going on, and that song from two years earlier happens to be one of my very favorite records on the Motown label.

Those chords changes that lead into the chorus on both tracks also work well on Dion & The Belmonts "Jump Back Baby" from 1967. Check that one out below.

Well, if these three songs don't put you in a fine mood, I'm going to spend the next three days posting Judee Sill and Nico tracks.

I'm in a fine mood now! Thanks for reminding me of the power of music! LOVED the version of "Tempted" that you posted. Lovely.

Tina's and Dion's songs are both new to me and put a smile on my face. Heat Wave is one of the all-time great singles.

Heat Wave, This Old Heart of Mine and What Becomes of a Broken Heart are still my favorite Motown tracks. While I still listen to and love The Temps, 4 Tops, DR and the Supremes, Marvin, Smokey, Stevie W. and countless others, these tracks keep me searching for great music that I have yet to hear. There is something magical about them and I want to experience that with other songs. I can't give them a higher compliment than that.

Very good. Not sure it would survive in today's litigiousness climate. Shades of Heatwave ( as you said) and Jimmy Mack.... however it made me feel good!! More please. And the Band Geeks are a revelation ... lost a couple of hours yesterday watching them have a riot!
