Twelve-Thirty

I didn't want this to get lost either as a Song Of The Day or as Today's Cover Version. I've had this in my iTunes library since the beginning of time and I only heard it for the first time yesterday. I don't know anything about Autoliner but this cover of the Mamas & Papas hit knocked me out. So here it is.

Yeah, I have this as well and it comes up every so often and I end up playing it about 5 times because it's awesome. "Twelve Thirty" is one of my favorite hits-but-not-a-massive-hit M&Ps songs (along with "Go Where You Wanna Go"...)

The third verse of "Twelve Thirty", though, is impossible to remember without a lyric sheet in front of me.

like it better than the Jakob Dylan covers from that era, a little more punchy.

12:30 is one of those songs that perfectly evokes its time and place. It did it at the time, and its built-in wistfulness makes it effective today with its feeling for a vibrant but long-gone time when folks thought a better way was on its way.

Isn't that Brian Leach's band ( Not the great Rangers defenseman).

Yes, but I don't know Brian Leach either.

My favorite Mamas & Papas' song it. The Autoliner's version is also wonderful. At least until the tack piano goofiness comes in at the end. Thank you Sal for sharing your discovery.

My thoughts exactly, Captain.
