All Me, All The Time!

I had the honor and extreme pleasure of sitting down with Adam RealMan for an episode of "Your Personal Record," Adam's terrific YouTube show.

If you think you're sick of me now, just wait.

Actually, all kidding aside, Adam RealMan is a long time record collector, as well as a concert producer and a Coney Island performer. He is a strong man and a sword swallower. I am neither, but this conversation proved that we had more than enough in common to have a great time.

And the best part?

We enjoyed ourselves.

Right on! Entertaining... agreed about the fun of record stores in old pre-discog days, and the ability to find anything if you're patient.

Very much enjoyed the interview. Agree with many of the shared thoughts. Thanks! And thanks for ‘Stuff by Mark’!

I listened for the shoutout -- and was not disappointed. Hahahaha. :-)

This was cool to listen to.

That interview touched on a lot of interesting topics. A few years ago, I was at a record shop here in Los Angeles, talking to the proprietor (who was probably in his late 20s). He said he had no problem letting go even of items that he really liked. He'd typically give everything a listen or two and then just price it for sale. My own psychological make-up isn't like that at all! Fortunately for me, particularly since my musical tastes are so varied, I'm much more of a listener than a collector. What that means for me nowadays is that I can manage to hold onto (i.e., find space for) my "old" physical stuff and make the majority of my "new" acquisitions in digital form.

That was fun.. Two friends talking records. You've gone up in my books after learning you won a Kinks trivia contest.

I couldn't make out the T-shirt he was loving. Can you give us a close up?

Gave a listen to Frayle's version of Ring Of Fire, and, dang, it was sludgey! That is a compliment! Reminded me of the slow grind of early 90s Codeine, which I really liked. I see the BS vs PL debate made it to today's post, too. Looking forward to hearing the ZIP.

Sal: Thanks, that was an entertaining discussion of the reasons for collecting and listening to music. My album collection is definitely filed under "used" and may be bequeathed in my will to an unsuspecting family member. Michael D.

Really enjoyed being a fly in the walk and listening in. Wish I had been part of the conversation.
