The Traveling Squeezeburys

If this doesn't kickstart your week and make you smile on a Monday, maybe you should double up on your Wheaties!

And may I say, drummer Gilson Lavis is one helluva pounder.

Wonderful.

Wow! Any idea as to who was the headliner? My guess is Squeeze, but Nick Lowe was there, too.

A helluva pounder indeed. Not a bad front line either.

What youngsters they are!

Elvis & Nick toured together in 1989. If Squeeze was also on tour, I wonder if they just happened to be in the same city and hooked up. I really don't know.

I ran across this clip a couple of years ago and was astounded at how good it was (and astounded I had never even heard about it before). They're doing it in the Manfred Mann style, but I've enjoyed Mel Torme's version too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ty6pupzrCbE

Yeah, that's pretty great, vocals outstanding. Can't do no wrong covering this one.

What a great way to spend Monday - watching this over and over.

Looking at EC, I'd say that's definitely Spike era, so it will be 89ish. But I'm pretty sure they weren't;'t both touring at the same time. I'd guess it's a UK TV appearance and they brought EC and NL on as guests.

Wow - would have loved to have been in Montreux for this. Ironically, I've never heard Elvis live, but I have met him in a dive bar in NO.

Just now catching this. So good. One of my favorite songs and covered quite rightly. Thanks Sal.
