Towers Of London- XTC
Love the intro and the relentless groove on this track from XTC.

Lie To Me -Durocs
I first wrote about this lost gem back in 2008. I saw a rave review in Creem back in the day, then the album came in the mail as a bonus with my Creem magazine subscription. There was a copy in a recent collection I picked up and decided to play it, since trying to sell it wouldn't be as much fun. It still holds up, like a new wave 10cc in the hands of Phil Spector. If you dig this track, I strongly suggest digging into the entire album.

Don't Try To Explain- Neil MacArthur
I also picked up about 300 45s last week in Jersey City. A few Neil MacArthur's were in that batch, including this absolutely stunning track. (You do know Neil MacArthur is Colin Blunstone of The Zombies, yes?)

Lonely Lover- Marvin Gaye
This one popped up on the iPod last week. I knew the voice but not the song. Another Marvin classic, this one tucked away on a UK b-side.

I Wish I Was Your Mother- Maria McKee
A perfect cover of one of my favorite Ian Hunter tunes. Thought it deserved a better place than the oft-neglected Cover Of The Day slot.

Night & Day- Toots & The Maytals
The obligatory, "no one cares but you, Sal" reggae track of the week.

Diddy Wah Diddy- Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Picked up that RSD double 45 reissue from Sundazed of the Captain's A&M singles. All four tracks are killers, including this version of the heavily covered Bo Diddley tune.

Coincidentally enjoying aerial views of the Tower(s) of London today (the London Marathon thing on TV) and had been listening to a Marvin Gaye live show in Japan so this mix is spot on. Plus McKee's version of Hunter's classic Mott track is the bee's knees. Thanks for doing up the zip. Cheers!
