Meschiya Lake has always been a guarantee. When you visit New Orleans, really at any time of the year, you should catch Meschiya Lake's regular gig at either Chickie Wah Wah or The Spotted Cat. The music will be familiar, whether evoking the blues greats like Memphis Minnie and Bessie Smith, or the sad, smokey sounds of Billie Holiday. But there is no doubt, it is 100% New Orleans.
She spent some time in Germany in 2019 and recorded this wonderful new record, "Looking The World Over," under the moniker Meschiya Lake & The New Movement.
I have seen Meschiya Lake perform numerous times and it was always something special. That special vibe oozes from these new grooves.
If you dig these tracks, head on over to the Louisiana Music Factory and grab a copy.

p.s. my order for Charlie Gabriel's 89 finally shipped today!
Randy,
My Charlie shipped, too.
But the June Tipitina's release- Etta James Live At Tips, is nowhere to be found. Got an email in mid-June saying it was about to ship. July 1st, still didn't ship. I emailed, they apologized, said, "this week." It's 7/19, no shipping info and they stopped replying to my e-mails.
That rocks my boat. Many thanks. A copy ordered!
Very special! Will order. Thank you!
