Malibu- Hole
There are five songs on Hole's "Celebrity Skin" that make up about 25 amazing hooks. "Malibu" is one of them. (The other four, if you are curious, "Awful," "Heaven Tonight," "Boys On The Radio" and the title track.) I never tire of this album.

The Prettiest Star- David Bowie
Catching up on Mojos, reading about the 50th anniversary of "Ziggy Stardust," I needed a soundtrack.

Summer Love- APB
For about a year in the early 80's, APB was all over new wave radio. Our local station WLIR had every one of this band's singles in heavy rotation. Songs like "Rainy Day" and "Shoot You Down" felt just a big as "Let's Dance" or "Every Breath You Take." This track is another winner.

Schoolgirl- Argent
Might as well be a Zombies track.

You Angel You- Manfred Mann's Earth Band
When not covering Bruce Springsteen, they were covering Bob Dylan. I think I might prefer this cover to the original. I think.

I Can't Sleep- The La's
From a perfect Side One on a killer debut...and farewell.

I Stay Away- Alice In Chains
This track has been haunting me for 25 years. The acoustic guitars on the intro, the strings, and that sweeping majestic ending all remind me of something else. An AM hit from the 70's perhaps? A movie soundtrack? The song "Wildfire" by Michael Murphy always comes to mind, but that never satisfies. Maybe you can figure it out.

Agree with your assessment of Celebrity Skin. Half of it is exceptional and is strong enough to make it a very solid listen all the way through.

Your Hole favorites are my favorites. "Boys On The Radio" is often my favorite, but it's a minute too long. I wanna re-edit that song

Wow, I hadn't heard anyone mention that station in YEARS...brings back memories of spending summers out at Jamesport Beach and my aunt's place in Medford as a kid (52 now LOL)...thanks for the nostalgic hit :)
