I first listened to an advance of Robin Taylor Zander's debut album back in December. Of course, the voice sounded unmistakably like his dad's and the music, well, not too far from his dad's band. It was originally scheduled for a March release, but has now been pushed back to April 21st on Jack Douglas' Confidential Records, though after a number of Google searches, I can't find too much information on how and where to order it.
I gave it another spin yesterday and while I can't help but think Cheap Trick, I think it would be unfair to go all in with that comparison. "The Distance" by RTZ is a terrific collection of Beatles and Beach Boys inspired originals and the young Zander really shows off his chops as both a singer and songwriter.
I'm looking forward to this one.

You and me both, pal.
That was beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
See, this is why we keep you around. I would have never known about this extraordinary recording. He's certainly listened to his dad sing. While there is a similarity in timbre, the phrasing is all pops. Great tune and luscious production. It's on the calendar.
Wow, that was terrific! I had no idea that this was coming. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the heads up. I am hearing Jeff Lynne as well.
Nice! I get a sense of Emitt Rhodes too.
This is pretty solid. I'll check it out when the full album gets released for sure!
