Three Girl Rhumba- Wire
From "Pink Flag," one of my favorite punk albums of all time, please give it up for Wire and "Three Girl Rhumba," a song that some of you might recognize from Elastica's big hit "Connection."

Lottie Mo- Jon Cleary

Jon Cleary's excellent "So Swell" album was released from an exclusive vinyl only contract last year and is now available to stream on all your fave and not so favorite services. I suggest doing so, as it will do wonders for your health.

I'm So Green- Can
The great Damo Suzuki passed away last week. Here is one from my favorite Can record, "Ege Bamyasi."

Monk's Dream- Larry Young
Yet another all time fave of mine, this one from the world of jazz. Larry Young's "Unity" features a ridiculous quartet--Woody Shaw on trumpet, Joe Henderson on sax, Mr. Young on organ and Elvin Jones on drums. I love this album so much, I bought two t-shirts featuring the album cover.

(surprise bonus track)

Daddy's Gonna Tell You No Lie- The Cosmic Rays w/ Sun Ra

The first time I heard this song was at an NRBQ concert in the 80's. I've been listening to a bunch of Sun Ra this week, with records ranging from baffling to beautiful. This oldie is a bit of both.

I Love You Goodbye- Thomas Dolby

Our pal Wardo reviewed Thomas Dolby's "Aliens Ate My Buick" over at his place this week, and it reminded me of how much I love both "The Flat Earth" and "Astronauts & Heretics." This is from the latter.

Morning Final- Blue Oyster Cult

A few times a year, I go on about BOC. I recently said, "Whatever you think BOC sounds like, they don't." Unfairly pigeonholed as both one hit wonders and a heavy metal band, Blue Oyster Cult's first seven albums are musical miracles. This is a fave from "Agents Of Fortune."

That Jon Cleary tune actually does wonders for my health. Such a fantastic album.

Great mix. Still think BOC's best was Cities on Flame (yeah, I'm fing old). That Cleary cut was from that 4 album set of NO music that Newvelle released - Jon, Irma Thomas, Ellis Marsalis and Lil Freddie King. Freddie gave them hell about his record and was adamant that they not release what they had recorded with a horn section (and, he ultimately won). I like Freddie, but that Newvelle state of the art engineering thing is kinda wasted on gut bucket blues; however, they are bringing him back into the studio, so what in the hell do I know.
Thanks, Sal!

Love the Cleary as well. BOC/Tyranny and Mutation has always been my go-to.

Thanks for the traffic!

I'm looking forward to reviewing Astronauts & Heretics -- he's been unfairly overlooked over the decades.
