Pops was an innovator in every way. IMHO, that clip (along with Cab Calloway's "Minnie the Moocher") ranks as the first music video--even though it predates video by about 40 years: As visually captivating as it is musically potent. If it weren't for that sloppy edit around the 1:41 mark, it would have been perfect.
