Rock And Roll Is Alive & It Lives In...Jersey City?

Who says I don't listen to new music?

Jersey City boys Wyldlife are back with a new one on Wicked Cool and man, these guys get better and better. It's coming on ten years since their debut and what I thought was one of the best singles of the year, "City Of Inbreds." That song kept me up at night, as I couldn't get that chorus out of my head for months.

Now comes record #4, "Year Of The Snake" and main songwriters, vocalist Dave Feldman and guitarist Samm Allen have really upped the game. Side One is just about perfect, coming right out of the gate with the hook-filled "Deathbed" and never letting up. This is what you want on a rock and roll record, loud guitars and singalong choruses to die for. The track "Get Well" would have made the late, great Tommy Keene a proud man.

You'll hear the influence of your favorite punk bands throughout, whether it's a bit of The Only Ones via The Damned on one track, or The Replacements via Redd Kross on another. But Wyldlife deserves a lot more credit than just jogging your 70's memories. These songs explode with both energy and melody and that is not always easy to do. "Year Of The Snake" isn't just an album of screamers. It's fast, hard and smart.

The big surprise is "The Falcon" which closes out "Year Of The Snake." This is meat and potatoes hard rock and sounds more like a lost track from Aerosmith's "Draw The Line." What a way to go out!

"Year Of The Snake" is a blast and I'm happy to say, the best of its kind so far this year.

Yeah, I listened to this back in April and it's just as solid as their other material. Recommended from this end as well.

Awesome! Too much fun! Thank you for the share. Transitioned from Blondie’s ‘Eat to the Beat’ and it was perfection. Heavy rotation.
