This one showed up a week or so ago and I ignored it.
"Isolation." I get it.
Johnny Depp. Stop already.
But then a friend sent it to me and asked, "Have you heard this? I think it's great."
I think it's great, too.

Shit.
I had heard about this and really wanted to not like it, but now that I have heard it (thanks, Sal)… I like it.
I wanted to not like it because I want Johnny Depp, AKA, The Coolest Dude On The Planet Earth, to depart the world of rock and roll and return to where his talents lie, i.e., The Big Screen.
You weren't kidding Sal. Jeff working on the bluesy side of town is a joy and Johnny sounds like an actual rock & roll singer. I never heard a note of the Hollywood Vampires stuff, so this is my introduction to his voice (did he sing in Sweeney Todd?). I believe Mr. Lennon would approve.
Hot damn, that's fantastic. Trying times are usually a weird muse for artists. Check out this song, and video, from Wynton Marsalis. Its great, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LR7YoWXiaIQ
I heard this last week and was afraid of how much I liked it. Now, a week later, I no longer like it. I LOVE IT! Does Jeff Beck ever disappoint? He hasn't torn up the joint like this since "You Had It Coming." The second solo is absolute, jaw-dropping stunning.
Beck continues, at soon to be 76 years old, to be up for anything. Play with Johnny Depp? Sure why not?
Jeff refuses to take the conventional victory lap.
The Johnny Depp vocals on the Hollywood Vampires songs are...passable. This is somewhat better. There's nothing about his delivery in general that would make me hunt down records by him. He's slightly better than Don Johnson or Bruce Willis as far as it goes.
A little Jeff Beck usually goes a long way for me, but he plays with real taste and restraint here. Depp's vocals are also good, much better than you'd expect from a moonlighting Hollywood a##$%&e. I'm still not interested in checking out Hollywood Vampires but this is a good song.

Boy, does JB sound good... as usual.

sounds like guns and roses with Jeff Beck on guitar (phrasing etc.) just my opinion and not a bad thing
I think Depp has a much better voice than Axl Rose. But I also think Professor Irwin Corey has a much better voice than Axl Rose.
Look, Johnny Depp is a poseur but I like this, mostly because of Jeff Beck, but Depp holds up his end of it so it's okay with me.
Jeff is a guitar hero of mine. Always liked Johnny, so I'll give him singing credit here, he does a nice job with his faint British accent.
Great SOTD, I believe we bought that album together.
Surprisingly good vocals from Johnny, but Jeff is the real star here. Great song!

Beck is great, though, on this..
