ICYMI: New Radicals Together Again

I can't get enough of this song or the album it comes from. The New Radicals will forever be known as one-hit wonders and even that hit isn't exactly as well-known as other one-hit wonders. "Maybe You've Been Brainwashed, Too" is a solid record from head to tail. I've said it here before and I'll continue to say it. If you don't know the record, it's time.

I remmeber when that album was first released. Even then, it was already in the press that this was going to be a one off, since he was more interested in production work. Still, a damn strong album. Looking at him now just reminds me as to how damn old I am!

You're right. Even the few shows they played live all felt like private industry parties.

It is a great album. And sooooooooo World Party-ish. Can't think of much higher praise.

Nice to see Archie Bunker's Place star Danielle Brisebois still there providing the backing vocals and percussion, like she did in the original band. And nice to see the same hat on Mr. Alexander.

Pretty freaky - just a couple of hours ago my wife comes into the kitchen while I'm cooking breakfast and out of the blue asks me why the New Radicals only recorded one album. She said the guy on MSNBC's Morning Joe was talking about the band and this particular song.

And then I get to work, go to my first stop, Burning Wood, and bingo, New Radicals!

Maybe this will spur Alexander to get back into the studio.

Great fucking record.

Song was played during the Inauguration Festivities yesterday. Some kids were dancing to it and showed the band performing the song. Pretty Cool. Maybe Joe is a big fan?

This clip, Ken49, was created specifically for the Inauguration. The song was a fave of Joe's son, Beau, who played it as inspiration duriung his cancer battle.

@whattawino,
but it was in the show.

Great album as is Gregg Alexander's solo work before it. Sadly he went off writing for pop stars after the New Radicals jaunt. Nice one Sal.

I watched the whole show after the Inauguration....from Bruce and Tom until the end and I did not see me no New Radicals.

Wino,
No, you are correct. I misunderstood. It was not part of the prime time show. It was part of the daytime ceremonies.

That killed!!

Their one album is in my top 5 of all time... maybe top 3.

Your headline had me thinking, holy shit, did they re-form??

While not that, I sure loved hearing this one live. Love the ending... and there's no reason to revisit/include the spoken-word outro on the recorded song - nice edit, Gregg.

He also wrote "The Game Of Love" by Michelle Branch (with Santana) by the way... one of the most-played songs on my iTunes for years now.
