There is a stunning,
new deluxe vinyl edition of Neil & Tim Finn's 1995 project "Finn," that was cut at Abbey Road by Miles Showell and just released this past Friday.
I haven't listened to this record in ages and it stirred up some memories, good and bad, like the night I was escorted out of The Supper Club after only a half dozen songs for standing on a couch after being told three times not to. It was a filthy couch, covered in cigarette burns and months old beer. I wouldn't have obstructed anyone's view, as the place was packed with giants, all of which were in front of me. I still think security was a tad unreasonable. As it turned out, my view was exactly the same from outside the venue. Just one minute into the first track, "Only Talking Sense" and that July night in 1996 became as clear as day.
But I digress.
The bonus LP features demos from the "Woodface" era, some of which also ended up on Tim's solo record "Before & After." All but one were scattered across UK singles, so
if you are a fan of all things Finn, you probably know them and have them somewhere in your collection. Only one is a first timer, a tune called "Four-Stepping In 3/4 Time," and it’s a good one.
I know vinyl is a hard sell to many, but there was something truly special about hearing all of those demos presented as one LP. It played like the Beach Boys “Party.” You can hear the room, some
chatter, a few flubs, handclaps. I love the "Finn" album proper, but I enjoyed the bonus LP more.
This new edition is one of the best sounding records I've heard all year.

I really enjoyed that album when it first was released. Rediscovered it about 2 years ago when I started to digitize all my lps/cds in advance of our overseas move. Looking forward to this expanded, and upgraded, edition. Thanks for the update, Sal.
I bet you're hoping Needle Mythology gives Everyone Is Here the same treatment.
Can't wait to hear the vinyl, and the demo you mentioned (as you guessed, I have all the others in my collection)! I'm heading to Nashville next month to see Crowded House at the Ryman. It's wonderful that in 2022 re-releases like this Finn album and new material by CH are both still viable.
