A phenomenal single from one of my favorite bands.

Hearing this song takes me back to the early '80's when I purchased several cassettes on the ROIR (Reachout International Records) label. Little Johnny was on The Great New York Singles Scene comp, which also contained the wonderful tracks, Piss Factory (Patti Smith), Blank Generation (Richard Hell), Disneyland (Come On), U.S. Millie (Theoretical Girls), and of course, With The T.V. On (The Invaders).

That comp is one of my faves of all time. Anyone who hasn't heard it... get it!

When Patti Smith gave a shout out to "Little Johnny Jewel on Ork Records" during her stage banter, it made me want to check it out. I'd never heard of Ork Records before. I thought it might be pretty hard to find. Luckily, at the time, I lived a mile away from Rhino Records. They had it. Sandy and I loved the single and when the album finally came out, we were all about it. What an album! It was right up our alley. So much beauty and tension. On some days it's my favorite album of 1977. Holds up really well after all these years. Lord knows how many times I've listened to it, but it still maintains its novel exhilaration.

Was happy to get the 12" so I could play Johnny without the flip. Now rightfully a bonus track.

A cool comp indeed, which eventually made it to LP and CD. But buyer beware, it does not have the full version of "Little Johnny Jewel." I was not aware that Mumps track was a single, either, if it was.

What a band! By the way, Richard Lloyd is touring again right now and I strongly recommend his show. I saw him last year in Atlanta and the band was razor-sharp. They play a number of Television songs of course and the whole set is cool - power trio format.
